More than holes and metal chips – the Alfra company history

Fairy tales start with „once upon a time“ – an extraordinary story starts with a vision. We invite you to a stray through the Alfra-company history – because our roots are the basis for tools and machines matching with your high expectations.

From Dresden to the capital of motorsports

The century was still young when new processes for manufacturing and processing metal parts changed the German economy. A.H Mehring recognised the opportunities in this market. In 1913, he founded a company for the manufacture of saws, which moved to Hockenheim after the Second World War. The racing town in northern Baden is still home to Alfra's headquarters today.

Strong family

Alfra becomes part of Rittal Automation Systems (RAS) under the umbrella of the Friedhelm Loh Group. Alfra thus serves the needs of companies requiring hand tools as well as those of enclosure manufacturers on the cusp of automation - as an ideal addition to the RAS product portfolio.
